Are you planning to take the IELTS? Congratulations, you are a step ahead in fulfilling your dreams of living or studying in an English-speaking country.
IELTS is an international English Language Testing System aimed at assessing the English language proficiency level of anyone moving to the UK, US CANADA, AUSTRALIA, and some other European countries around the world.
It's one of the most accepted English language tests globally for academic qualifications or other immigration purposes.
The test can be taken for two major purposes: to study, live or work abroad. This is why there are two major types of IELTS:
👉IELTS Academic Test
👉IELTS General Test
The third one is IELTS Life Skills. It's a newly introduced test type for those applying for UK visas.
WHAT IS THE IELTS ACADEMIC ALL ABOUT?
The IELTS Academic Test is for those who are planning to study, as the name implies, "academic". You can't take it if your main purpose for traveling is to work or reside abroad. IELTS Academic Test assesses the four language skills: LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING and WRITING skills.
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE SECOND TYPE.
IELTS General Test
The IELTS General is for those who are intending to work or reside in any of the English-speaking countries. You can't take it if your primary purpose for traveling is to study. Similar to IELTS Academic, it also assesses the four language skills: LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING and WRITING skills but the structure of the questions is different for the READING and WRITING sections.
